My dog's still sick after kennel cough. What natural remedies can I use?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chow Chow | Female | spayed | 40 lbs

My dog is almost through her 2 week kennel cough quarantine but she doesnt seem any better. She's not necessarily coughing but she's tired, doesnt want to work (service dog) and she is reluctant to eat. Once I pulled her off the medication, I started to give her yogurt at night to help boost up her antibodies but she just is not herself. Is there anything else I can try? I'm all about holistic/natural methods. She also gets hip/joint and allergy natural products in the morning. I'm really worry

Most cases of kennel cough will resolve, with or without treatment, within 3-4 weeks. The cough can linger for a bit longer. A half teaspoon of honey several times daily may soothe her throat and ease the cough. Monitor for lethargy, fever, difficulty breathing or a productive cough. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.
