My kitten threw up yellow bile. Should I worry or see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Burmese | Female | spayed | 10 months and 21 days old | 4.85 lbs

Hello! My 10 month old kitten made a small squealing noise then vomited up a yellow bubbly bile with no chunks. Since then she has been more active, has eaten her dinner and has pooped. After she ate she began scratching around her food bowl (similar to how she would in the litter box to cover her poop). I’m just wondering is this something I should take her to see her vet about or is this pretty normal and not too much of a worry? Thankyou!

Vomiting like that can sometimes happen if a cat has gone too long between meals, or if something cause minor GI upset. If she is again eating, drinking and back to her normal self, I would just keep an eye on her. If she vomits again, seems in distress, or other new symptoms appear such as changes in appetite, diarrhea, etc, then bringing her to a vet ASAP to rule out any issues is best.
