Good for you for planning ahead! I recommend waiting until 2 weeks after a puppy's last DAPP (distemper-adenovirus-parvovirus-parainfluenza) vaccine before walking outside of your yard. Puppies receive this vaccine every 3-4 weeks from 6-8 weeks of age until at least 16 weeks. Parvovirus can live in the environment for 7+ years, so it is best to wait until Bear is able to form his own antibodies to this virus before taking any chances with possible exposure. That said, you can get him accustomed to walking on a harness and leash by doing laps in your backyard. As a tiny puppy, this will likely provide plenty of exercise for him! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and congratulations on your upcoming addition!
