My puppy has soft, light stools. Is it the new food or a vet issue?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

We took over the care of a springer spaniel that's 8 months old, only weighs around 8kg, the vet advised yesterday to feed wet and dry food 4 x daily buddy's stools are very soft and getting lighter and lighter, is this normal or do we need to get him checked again, he is eating and drinking fine but I'm concerned the pedigree puppy food isn't agreeing or is this too soon to say?

I'd keep an eye on the puppy for now. If this is a new food he is eating, this can be the cause of this stools. It's good that he's eating and drinking, and I would be concerned if he stops doing that. At that point, take him into the vet. Best of luck.
