Hi—I noticed some yellow discharge coming from Felix’s left eye today. The inner white area is slightly red. Is this pink eye? Unfortunately can’t get a good pic of it.

It sounds like conjunctivitis is possible, which can be caused by an infection (pinkeye) or allergies. A corneal ulcer or scratch could cause redness and a similar discharge. I would recommend seeing your vet for an exam - they may want to stain Felix’s eye to look for a scratch. They can then prescribe a topical eye medication to help.

Since Chevy has recurrent yellow discharge, there is a chance that he may have an eye infection. Allergies typically cause just a small amount of clear or white discharge, if any. It sounds as though a vet visit is in order. Until you can take Chevy to the vet, be sure to keep an e-collar (cone) on him at all times to prevent him from rubbing or scratching at the eye, as this could worsen any existing injury or infection. I hope that he feels better soon!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Daisy. I recommend that she sees a veterinarian. While allergies can affect the eyes this time of year, I worry that she may have an eye infection based on the color of the discharge. Her veterinarian will examine her eyes and may recommend some tests. Then she will likely be prescribed an eye drop or ointment to help with her symptoms. I hope this information helps!
