Dog's ear hurts, vet found no infection. Still shaking head. Why?

6 yo Pom, seems to have developed ear infection. I say seems becasue the vet found no signs of redness, irritation or ear drum rupture. Gave us the drops just in case but stressed she couldn’t find anything. We are in day 2 of treatment now and still she shakes her head constantly and holds that ear down in obvious discomfort. We’ll return in a day but have you any suggestion/advice?

If the doctor didn’t see anything obvious, then I would be suspicious of some sort of allergies causing irritation. Call the veterinarian to let them know what you were seeing. They may recommend a course of antihistamines or perhaps even steroids to see if Meda gets any relief.I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
