Dog's eye cut swollen, painful, no vet nearby. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 3 months old | 55 lbs

my dog got a pretty big cut under his right eye. the surrounded area has started to swell up and is very painful. i have started the antibiotics treatment. what else should i do? (i live in a rural area where no vets are available, only medicines)

Poor Jimmy! Unfortunately there are no pain medications you can give him, many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I would strongly urge you to drive him to the closest vet. That needs sutures to close up, and his eye needs to be checked to make sure there is no damage to it. If there is damage and it's left untreated, he could end up with permanent vision loss.
