Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered
I’m getting a golden retriever puppy in 3 weeks. When I pick him up he will be about 8 weeks old and would have had his first vaccination. How long should I wait before introducing my dog to other dogs?

Hello. Your new puppy can interact with any of your own pets if they have been fully vaccinated. Otherwise, we recommend keeping your puppy at home & away from all other dogs, dog parks, or any places where dogs might congregate until the full series of puppy shots are finished. That means he will be able to interact with other dogs after he has received his 12 week & 16 week boosters. Keep him well protected until he is 4 months of age. I should also mention that if your puppy receives his first puppy shot at around 6 weeks of age, he should actually be vaccinated again at 8 weeks ( a lot of breeders like to vaccinate at 6 weeks, but this is too early ). Congratulations on your new puppy & thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
