My cat has bleeding chin bumps. How can I treat her acne at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 7 years and 2 months old | 12 lbs

My 7 year old cat has bumps under her chin. We went to a vet and she said it could be acne. I was wondering if there were any home remedies to heal her acne because her chin was bleeding the other day and it seems like it's spreading. Thank you in advance

I recommend purchasing Douro 3% Chlorhex pads, VetOne KetoHex Antiseptic Pet Wipes, or MalAcetic Wet Wipes or Malaseb antibacterial/anti-fungal wipes from chewy.com or petco.com and wiping the acne three times a day for 14 days. If the lesions don’t improve within a week with topical treatment, returning to your vet for a recheck and possibly a course of oral antibiotics such as Simplicef will likely help. Good luck!
