My dog is limping, no pain. What can I do at home without a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 5 years and 9 months old | 78 lbs

Lucy has been limping on her left back leg since Saturday. She doesn't show any discomfort when touching or moving it. I'm not in a position financially to get her checked out. Is there anything I can do at home.

I'm sorry to hear that Lucy is limping. If you're not able to take her to the vet right now, then all you can really do at home is restrict her exercise for the next week or so to see if it's something that will resolve on its own - so no running, jumping, or playing, short leash walks to potty only. If the lameness does not resolve in the next 7-10 days, then she really needs to see a vet as this would be a sign that something more serious may be wrong.
