Why is my house-trained dog peeing inside after a new puppy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Husky | Male | neutered

Hi! My Chow/ Husky dog mix was adopted a year ago, he’s a year old and when we adopted him he was fully house broken. We take him every 7 or 8 in the morning and 5 or 6 at night. After getting a new puppy were trying to house break him, but my older dog recently just peed the house as well! Is it due to example ?

It’s possible Koda peed in the house because he could smell the urine from the puppy. Make sure to use a good enzymatic cleanser. Also make sure that both dogs are getting many opportunities to potty outside. Adults need at least 5 potty breaks in a 24 hour period. Puppies need to go much more frequently. If he continues to have accidents, have him checked for a bladder infection. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
