My dog ate chicken bones. What urgent symptoms should I look for?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 85 lbs

Ivey ate some chicken wing bones, I am in high school and my caregiver believes she will pass them on her own. I’ve been through everything with her and I believe she can’t pass them. Until she shows signs of ailment I cannot get her to the vet... I know this is wrong but what should I do in the meantime?

There is nothing you can do at this stage but monitor her. If you notice any of these symptoms Ivey needs to get to the vet right away: * not eating * vomiting, especially repeated episodes * lethargy (decreased activity) * severe diarrhea * excessive drooling Hope this helps. Best wishes.
