My cat has tapeworms. How do I prevent reinfection and fleas?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Male | neutered

I noticed grain looking things around my cats anus as well as a white one moving. I got him a dewormer. I’ve been trying to clean the grain things from around the house but I’ve probably missed some.. if he ingests them after he’s better will he get reinfected? Also, I haven’t noticed any fleas but since that’s how he must’ve gotten sick, how can I make sure it is dead?

If those grain things are tapeworms, fleas are usually needed to complete the life cycle of them. Good quality flea treatment and worming tablets are absolutely needed to resolve completely the problem. I would recommend to treat Leo for three months in a row (following instructions on the labels of course).
