Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 9 months old | 70 lbs

One of the dogs in my house has Parvo and she is on medicine, my dog has all his shots and he just threw up. I’m not sure if it’s because he’s on new food or he is getting sick please help?

Poor guy. The only thing to do for now is to wait to see if your other pet develops any more symptoms. He has already been exposed to parvo, but the vaccines he was given do protect him nearly 100% from getting infected. I know it can be hard to wait and see, but this is the appropriate response after just one bout of vomiting and no other symptoms to speak of. The new food could very well cause some vomiting, and is usually seen within 24 hrs of introducing the new food. I hope that Loki remains stable and that this is the only vomiting or illness symptom that you see with him. Best wishes and take care!
