Could my kitten's red ear be mites? Is it spreading or getting worse?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Himalayan | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 1lb

We noticed this on our male kittens ear. I took photos a week ago and recently. We think its ear mites. Does it look better or worse to you? Could it have gone inside the ear? The recent photo is on the left and the one on the right is a week ago, it was pretty red.

I see some debris in Winter's ear, and it could be ear mites but I cannot say without seeing him in person and examining the debris under the microscope. I would take him into the vet this weekend to have this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.
