My puppy's eye is suddenly cloudy. What's the cause and is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 8 days old | 13.5 lbs

My puppy has suddenly developed cloudiness in his right eye (left in photo). The cornea looks fine from the side, it can only be seen straight on and slightly at an angle when light reflects into his eye. In pictures with flash, the eye doesn't produce a black or sometimes red pupil like his left eye. What could cause this and how urgently should I treat it?

If he has been vaccinated lately, it could be a vaccination reaction, otherwise it's either an eye infection or eye injury causing an ulcer. i would strongly recommend taking Apollo to the vet the first chance you get, preferably today in order to get it checked and treated.
