My pet's nail broke or split. Is it normal? When should I see a vet?

Hi, so I was clipping Gulab’s nails and one of his nail’s tip was broken by itself and a small side of his nail was coming off. I just took off the broken nail and left the split alone. He isn’t showing any signs of pain and seem perfectly fine and there wasn’t any blood either. I just wanted to know if this was normal and whether I should just leave to heal on its own?

This can be normal. Keep an eye on it for now. If it starts hurting Gulab (he limps) or there are signs of infection (redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, and pus), he will need to see a vet. I hope this helps!
