My dog has kidney damage. Are seizures and fear signs of worsening?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Multi-Colored Standard Poodle | Female | spayed | 3 years and 11 months old | 43 lbs

7 months ago our three dogs were poisoned by someone with antifreeze even with treatment we lost two of our girls. The other a standard poodle pulled through and it has been 7 months. They told me she had kidney damage but as long as she maintained the level of function she could survive for awhile but eventually she would die. She had a grand mal seizure last night and for the last week she has been a bit paranoid extra scared of normal things does this mean her kidneys are failing more?

Yes, this could be a sign of worsening kidney failure. I suggest you get her back to your vet for some follow up blood testing to see if the kidney values have worsened. If they have not, she may have epilepsy and that can be controlled with medication. Sorry she is having this issue. Best wishes.
