My cat has a small nose cut with minor bleeding. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 6 years and 10 months old

We found a cut on my our cats nose 2 days ago. He doesn’t seem bothered by it, doesn’t rub it. He eats normally and hasn’t got any other symptoms. He is an indoor cat. He has been bleeding , only a tiny bit last night, no discharge that we know of.

As long as it is not actively bleeding and not bothering him, you can monitor it at home. An e-collar (cone) can be used to prevent rubbing or pawing until it is healed. Light pressure using clean guaze can be used to control minor bleeding. If it doesn't begin to improve in a few days, have him physically examined by your veterinarian.
