My dog threw up a toy, then again. Is he still sick or obstructed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 9 years old | 100 lbs

My dog threw up a piece of a toy on friday night so we held food until 11 am then fed small amounts slowly. He pooped normally then ate dinner normally and pooped normally. Ate breakfast this morning normally and pooped. Ate dinner and was gassy but pooped a little bit ago normally but then came inside and vomited again. He did run around a little today. The only thing is he had a milk bone maybe 2 hours ago

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Vomiting can be observed with gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, food sensitivity, foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. It could have been due to the milk bone but I am worried that we could be missing something here. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. Treatment would depend on findings. You could try a bland diet composed mainly of boiled chicken and white rice which is easily digestible and can help with an upset stomach. Good luck and have a great day!
