My senior cat has a hip lump. Should I biopsy or watch it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I think my cat has inverted papillomatosis on her hip. she's at least 17 so i doubt surgery would be an option at her age. I'm debating on if a biopsy would be worth it if the treatment options are limited. I'm thinking of watchful waiting for pain or impaired movement. What would be best for her?

Ouch, that spot looks pretty uncomfortable. I would at least have it checked out by your vet, as a biopsy may still be the best option to confirm what it is, and then go from there. Your vet can then recommend any treatment options, such as if surgery would be viable, or how to best keep Anja comfortable if treating it otherwise isn't an option.
