My dog ate Advil and is vomiting. Is it just an upset stomach?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Morkie | Female | spayed | 4 years and 2 months old | 17 lbs

I gave my 17 lb morkie half an Advil for pain/sprain. She’s not keeping anyh9ng down tho she is playful and jumping round with no issue other than vomiting hen she eats. Should I be concerned? Is this possible that her stomach is upset? He had the 100 mag last night bout 15 hours ago.

Ibuprofen is toxic to dogs and will cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody vomitus, stomach ulcers, black tarry stool, weakness, anemia (from blood loss caused by bleeding ulcers), lethargy, seizures. It can also cause kidney failure in severe cases. This is why this is an emergency. Your vet will want to take some blood for tests showing a base line, and then tomorrow or the day after will want to recheck the blood to see whether there is organ damage. He will also prescribe some stomach protectants, and administer supportive care, such as possibly iv fluids. Since the ingestion happened longer than 2 hours ago , your dog will need treatment . Please take your dog into an ER vet or your regular veterinarian now.
