My dog is weak, lethargic, and vet's closed. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 9.9 lbs

My dog is usally a very hyper little dog who is constantly following me. But since I got home I’ve notice he’s been very slow/weak and has lost any or even all energy. All he’s been doing is just sitting there and moving only if called. I just don’t know what to do, plus our local vet is closed.

It is very concerning that Chico is acting like this. If he really isn't doing well then I would recommend an emergency hospital. There are some in Manhattan and some in NJ that you can travel too. If he is doing well and feel that it is not an emergency then I would call your veterinarian in the morning to get him seen. With the symptoms, you described it is hard to say if it is a true emergency vs something that can wait, sometimes it is better to be safer and head to a hospital.
