Our 11 year old chocolate Labrador has diabetes, ketonacidoses and now on insulin. She seemed to be getting better, eating, more energy, and dose was lowered , now seems to be getting worse, not eating, shakes, and wondering if too much insulin was given accidentally? And if so, how long before we give her insulin again?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. If Mocha has become acutely weak and wobbly then I recommend putting corn syrup or honey on her gums and getting her to a vet right away. The signs you are describing could be either hypoglycemia (low glucose) OR hyperglycemia and re-occurance of ketosis. I recommend you put sugar on her gums, and get her to a vet immediately to check which of these glucose levels is occurring. If she is ketotic again IV fluids and a shorter acting insulin will be required to get her out of that crisis. I hope Mocha feels better soon!
