My dog ate a small thread from a towel. Is it safe or dangerous?

My dog just pulled a thread from a towel and ate it. It wasn’t very long but in a panic I tried to get it out of her mouth and she ended up swallowing.

Oh no, that's not good! More than likely, this one thread will pass without problem especially if it isn't very long. The worst case scenario would be it could cause a linear foreign body, signs of which include a decreased appetite, anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. Keep an eye on her to be safe, and if you do see any of those signs, take her into a vet right away. Hopefully, however, she will be just fine. Best of luck!

You did the right thing by cutting the thread. NEVER pull on a string or thread like that. If it is threaded back through her intestines it can cut through. Because this may be the case, I would get her checked by your vet as soon as possible, especially if she starts showing signs of sickness, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, etc.

My puppy may have swallowed a tooth threader. I know if humans swallow it all if fine. Is my puppy ok. Will she just poop it out?
In some cases (usually cats), it can cause an obstruction but it unlikely if it was just one piece. Monitor Goldie for vomiting, diarrhea or inappetence. If you notice any of the aforementioned symptoms please contact your primary care veterinarian.

My dog ate Christmas tinsel icicles (shredded plastic). Will she be able to digest that ok?
This tinsel may be able to pass without problem, but there could be a chance it could cause a linear foreign body. I would keep an eye on her. If you see any vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and/or lethargy, I would take her into a vet immediately. Best of luck.

My 9 month old Golden Retriever just swallowed a needle with thread attached. No coughing or choking. What should we do?
You should immediately take her to a petER, preferably to one where they have an endoscope with which they can take out the needle from the stomach before it travels on into the intestine and causes an intestinal obstruction as a "linear foreign body" or the needle perforates the stomach or the intestines. My dog ate the bottom part of my rug. Not much, but I am still a bit worried. The tag says it’s made of 100% undetermined fiber. Will this hurt her??
If Zoe did not eat a lot, this likely will pass without problem. There is a chance it could cause an obstruction or GI upset, so monitor her for signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or anorexia. If you see any of those signs, have her seen by a vet. Best of luck.

A small piece of fabric should pass on its own in a day or so. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain or straining to defecate. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.

Our dog just swallowed about some felt fabric that he ripped off a toy (we think less than a square inch). Should we be worried? Is something this small likely to pass?
I"m sorry that Taco chewed off a piece of his toy. This is a very small piece of fabric and would be most likely to pass. I would monitor him very closely for any changes in behavior, appetite, or if he begins vomiting or having diarrhea. If these clinical signs occur, he should be evaluated by a veterinarian ASAP.

My mini cocker spaniel ate some of a was rag durning the night. She seems fine this morning is she ok?
You will have to monitor her in the next few days, it could pass without causing problems but it could also get stuck in the small intestines or stay in the stomach, in that case at some point you should see some acute changes such as lethargy, vomiting and lack of appetite. if that happens you will need to take her urgently to the vet to get it treated.

My dog just ate a sheet of paper towel and so far is fine
Dogs eat the weirdest things sometimes! The only problem with a paper towel is that there is a potential for it causing a blockage in his intestines. It can pass, and I would monitor your dog for the next 72 hours. Should you see any signs of a blockage, which include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, anorexia, and constipation, then I would take him into the vet right away.

My dog ate a small rug placer that helps the to stop moving around a lot I'm not sure if it's dangerous or not to him and Loki is a medium sized dog.
Hi and thanks for posting! Any type of foreign object or material ingested has the potential to cause a problem. However, from the picture, it doesn't looks like very much was torn off from the rug placer. These small pieces Loki ate may very well pass on their own without causing an issue, however, I would be on the look out for signs of a possible problem brewing such as frequent vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite and lethargy. Loki should see a veterinarian right away if any of these signs are noticed. I hope this helps and thanks for using Boop by Petco!
