Is it safe if my puppy's second vaccine is delayed by one week?

Hi is it okay to have my puppy's second late for 1 week? Are there any possible side effects? Thank you so much.

It's best for Milo's immunity to have his second vaccine given four weeks after the first, but if you cannot get him into the vet at that time, do not put it off longer than a week. He will be fine with it being a week out. Best of luck!

The recommendations for puppy vaccinations are every 3-4 weeks until they are 16 weeks old. In fact, the immune system is more likely to respond favorably if you wait greater than 2 weeks in between vaccinations. Best of luck and enjoy your pup! Thank you for using Pet Coach.

My dog is supposed to get a vanguard boost tomorrow but I'm out of town till a week later. Will my dog still be safe and healthy if it misses its vaccine tomorrow and be taken when I return
It's likely that she will be safe to wait an extra week; especially if she received all her previous vaccines. However, I must warn that at this age they are the most vulnerable. This would be more concerning if she has contact with other dogs. One thing to consider is that the vaccines can be given 2-4 weeks apart. If it has been more than two weeks since her last vaccine, then she can have a booster before you leave. If it has been less than two weeks since her last vaccine, then she should be well protected to wait an extra week. I hope that helps and all is well with Sasha.

Is getting my puppy his vaccination two days before his 12 week dangerous?
It's great that you want to get Miko up to date on his vaccines! There is usually a little leeway between booster vaccines, but if you are talking about his Rabies vaccine then taking him in early may not be possible due to state laws regarding timing of Rabies vaccine administration. He will likely need boosters every 3-4 weeks until he reaches 16-20 weeks. He will then probably need vaccines again a year later. Vaccines that he will likely need include Canine Distemper Virus, Adenovirus-2, Parvovirus , Parainfluenza Virus and Leptospira (often administered in a combination vaccine called DAPPL to reduce the number of injections), Rabies, and Bordetella bronchiseptica (often called the "kennel cough" vaccine). Your vet may also recommend the Lyme and Canine Influenza vaccines, based on your location and Miko's lifestyle. I also recommend having Miko neutered and microchipped and signing him up for pet insurance. See the links below for more information: https://veterinarypartner.

due to some work i missed the second vaccination shot of my puppy ?so is it dangerous to my puppy health?
It can be dangerous if Lucky is exposed to unvaccinated dogs or dogs of unknown vaccine status. You should schedule the 2nd and 3rd rounds of vaccines as soon as you can. Keep him indoors or away from unknown/unvaccinated dogs until about 2 weeks after he is fully vaccinated.

Is it okay if 5in1 vaccination is delayed for 3 days?
It depends on the vaccination protocol. I don't think there will be an issue. We often have to delay vaccinations for 3 days and postpone them after a week-end for example,however to be on the safer side, I would check with your vet as well.

My 13 week old shih tzu puppy is a week away from getting his second round of vaccinations. Is he able to get them this weekend or does he have to wait this last week?
It's good that you are keeping up with vaccines to help keep him healthy. Generally booster vaccines can be given 3-4 weeks from the previous vaccine, so you may be able to get it done without having to wait another week. I recommend you call your vet to book an appointment for Reptar's (great name, by the way!) vaccine booster and to confirm the timing.

My puppy is due for his last round of vaccines in a week if i cant go is it ok to wait a couple days or it has to be exactly 2 weeks apart thank you
I think it is better for them to be around 3 weeks apart actually. So I think this would be okay. Also, looking at his age, he likely needs one last set of distemper/parvo vaccine again after this set. I try to do distemper/parvo vaccines every 3 weeks until they are 15-16 weeks old to ensure they are completely covered.

Hi there. In general, it's recommended to give the second booster in 3-4 weeks because this is the optimal window of time for the immune system to respond appropriately. You can't wait too long, or the initial response will have completely died down and the booster won't be effective. It's generally okay to wait up to 6 weeks to give the booster if needed, but I wouldn't recommend waiting longer than that. Waiting until April 27th would likely be pushing it a bit, so I would try to get her in within the 6 week window if possible.

My dog has just restarted his vacation program. The vet said to have the next one in 4 weeks but is it allowed to have it after 2 weeks due to timing issues?
Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. 2 weeks is really too soon for the next vaccine. 3 weeks is early but is acceptable if you have to, 4 weeks is ideal. Longer than 4 weeks you start to run the risk of the whole set not working. I hope that answers your question, best of luck with Tuco.
