My dog has a small bump on its eye or eyelid. Is it serious?

This looks as if it is a meibomian gland adenoma which is a benign (non-cancerous) mass that is common on the eyelids of dogs. Surgery can be performed to remove these but is usually not necessary and is just a cosmetic procedure. The mass sometimes will exfoliate and may bleed a small amount but this is normal.
