Is there a condition in cats that causes hunger every 10-30 minutes and only craving wet food? This is in addition to a history of constipation and a neurological disorder. DYLAN IS 13yo and recent bloodwork shows excellent values. I'm financially tapped after spending over $2000.00 on my 6 cats flea treatments and Dylan's supportive care for enema/fluids/injections for his constipation. This includes his current ear infection treatment and Ciprocide med for his bowel issue. Please help!

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The symptoms you describe may be indicative of hyperthyroidism or diabetes, both of which are fairly common in older cats. Tests such as thyroid hormone levels (T4 and free T4) can be performed to rule out hyperthyroidism and chronically elevated glucose levels would be determined with a fructosamine level test. These are done with a blood sample, but are not routinely performed. I would also be happy to look at any test results you have for Dylan and provide a second opinion.
