My dog has a growing bump on her tail with a scab. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | 4 years and 2 months old

I discovered a bump on my dogs tail about a week ago, I picked it off thinking it was a thorn and a rice sized mass came out. Didn’t think anything of it until I found it again this evening, only bigger. The picture of the tail was after the mass came out. And now I have discovered a larger bump but with a tiny black scab further up her tail. Hard to get a good look with all the fluff (German Shepherd, 4 years old) Could this be something serious?

This growth needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Charlie to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.
