Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Female | unspayed
I have just found me old cockatiel huddled on the bottom of her cage. I brought her out for a cuddle and when I put her back on her perch she went straight down to sit on bottom of cage. Something i have not seen jer do before. Over the years i have noticed that she appears to be slighty blind but still manages to find her food and water. Could this be a sign that her time is coming to an end. She is approx 20 years old. Many thanks.

Sitting on the bottom of the cage is a concerning sign, especially if she is listless or not interested in anything around her, including food and water. If the behavior continues, I would seek out veterinary care to have her examined and see if there is anything causing the behavior that can be treated. In the meantime, keeping her warm and with easy access to her food and water with dishes she can climb in and out of and not get stuck in, low flat perches in case she falls, etc, may help with any balance or vision problems until you can get to your vet.
