Why is my French Bulldog limping after a walk but not in pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 9 months and 1 day old

My 8mth old French Bulldog came back from his walk and was fine, within 15-20 mins of being back home he has started limping on his back left leg. He’s still himself eating, drinking and greeting people who visit the house. I’m hoping it’s just a strain on the muscle as I’ve felt all along his leg and he shows no sign of being in pain. Would just like a bit of advice as I can’t get an appointment with my vet till after Christmas now.

It sounds like he may have over exerted himself or pulled a little muscle. If he broke something it would USUALLY be painful and swollen but not always. I would confined him until you are able to take him to the vet which means do not let him jump, play, run, or have free reign of the house. I would put him in a crate or small room and leash walk him only to go to the bathroom. I would not give him any human pain meds as most are toxic to dogs. Your vet will be able to determine the area of injury and give him meds if needed. I hope this helps!
