Convenia injection given 1/12/18 and Dora still has diarrhoea. On a bland diet of fish and eating more than usual. Neutrophils were 1.5 pre Convenia and now 2.21. If diarrhoea is a side effect of the drug would you advise feeding her Applaws wet food which is her usual diet which may stop her from feeling hungry? No understanding at this point why Dora had an infection but she was poorly for a number of months and is not right but much better at present.

Hi, it is best to understand better what is causing Dora to feel poorly. Has she had any weight loss ? Has she suffered with diarrhoea for a while ? I would recommend to have a feacal exam and an ultrasound for her abdomen which should not require a sedation. You can keep her on applaws which is a very easy to digest food and will help the diarrhoea and in terms of antibiotics metronidazole would be more indicated for bacteria affecting the gi tract.. but it does not come in an injection form, you would need to give her tablets on a daily basis.Hope this helps !
