My 7-month-old dog's eye is swollen, red, and watery. Is it serious?

My 7 month old Bullmastiff/Great Dane is having problems with his left eye. His right eye looks straight at me but his left eye seems to roll back into his swollen eye lid. It is also red and quite watery and looks as though it is blanketed by a thick clear/white film. He does his best to keep that eye shut when he moves around. Do you think this may be a serious illness/ injury or maybe something like conjunctivitis? Thank you for your help!

I think this is something serious, and Puffy needs to see a vet now. Any eye problem should be considered an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into a vet now. Best of luck.
