My small puppy threw up, won't eat, and hasn't pooped. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 5 days old

My puppy threw up yesterday morning and now he won’t eat his dog food. He went a full 24 hours without eliminating. What should I do? Do I give him broth? What kind and how much? He is 10 weeks old and weighs 2.5 pounds

If he's only thrown up once you can try a little bland boiled chicken and rice to try and entice her to eat, but if she's refusing any and all food, seems to have a tender tummy, and can't go to the bathroom, seeking veterinary care ASAP is best to rule out more serious issues such as illness, obstruction, parasites, etc.
