Hi, we have a new puppy, 8 weeks and he isn't drinking water at all and is now refusing it through a syringe. Seems to be weeing regularly as we are getting some.into the little food that he eats. Is there anything else we can do to get him to drink. Thanks

If he’s eating add extra water to every meal. If you make the food very wet he will not need to drink extra water. As he matures he will learn to lap water out of a dish. You also can encourage him to drink by flavoring the water with beef or chicken broth. If he’s not eating or drinking then please take him right in for an exam and treatment. He’s very young and small so don’t wait if he isn’t improving. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Max.
