My cat is vomiting yellow liquid and not eating. Is it the new food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Male | neutered | 12.8 lbs

My cat has been vomiting yellow liquid once a month (from my observation), and last Thurs (12/6-vomit had one piece of dried food in it) & then again this morning (12/10). I am worried on what might be the reason for this. I did change his food and increased the amount a bit, but I made sure to mix it with the old food for a smoother transition. He's normally like a pig where he eats everything really quick (less than 2 mins) but he even took at 15 mins to eat half of his wet food last night.

Chronic intermittent vomiting like this is common in cats, but I would worry a little that something different might be going on the past couple of days since the vomiting is more frequent and Bubbles is not wanting to eat. Food intolerance is a fairly common cause of intermittent vomiting, but it is important to also rule out other causes like parasites, thyroid disease in an older cat or even ingestion of a foreign object. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian for a physical exam and diagnostic tests.
