New puppy after distemper: Is my home safe & how to clean sofas?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 7 days old | 4 lbs

my friend's previous puppy died of distemper virus a month ago. we wanted another so as per several vets' directions, we waited a month for the virus to die and deep cleaned every single thing of the house with bleach and other bases. be it floor, furniture,etc. we have deep cleaned 5-6 times. also we have planned to keep the new puppy in the room the previous puppy never visited. his first vaccination will be done when we take him home. are we finally ready? and how do i clean the sofas???

I think you have done just about as much as you can! There isn't a good way to disinfect the couch, but you could expose it to sunlight to kill any virus particles. Make sure to follow your vet's vaccine recommendations to ensure protection - typically vaccines are started at 6-8 weeks old and repeated every 3-4 weeks until after 16 weeks of age. Good luck!
