My cat has a cataract. Are there non-surgical treatments available?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 11 lbs

Hi, my old former stray cat got what i believe is a cataract quite developped in one eye, and the other seems to begin but it is not clear. Is it possible to use a treatment or is surgery the only option? Thank you

Before treatment always comes a diagnosis. So the best would be to take Doudoune to your veterinarian for a thorough eye exam as there could be other causes of that, such as uveitis or diabetes. Once your vet has made a diagnosis he can address the disease and treat accordingly. It is not very common for cats to develop cataracts.
