My cat was in a fight and bleeding. What first aid before the vet?

My cat got in a pretty bad fight and has a deep bite mark. There was a surprising amount of blood in the front yard so we put him in our garage with a blanket and food and water. I'm pretty worried about him so we are planning to take him to the vet. Is there anything else I can do to help him right now? Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 20 lbs

Your poor cat! I would take away the food as he may need to be sedated and he needs an empty stomach for that. Keep him warm and quiet, do NOT give him any human pain medications. Many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. Get him into a vet now. Best of luck.
