If he is properly vaccinated against the distemper virus then the chance of him getting the disease is extremely low. The efficacy of the vaccine is about 99% so dogs that are properly vaccinated do not typically get the disease.

    In very rare cases a dog can get distemper even though he is vaccinated. This is especially true if the immune system did not properly react to the vaccination, ie did not make sufficient specific antibodies. However this is rare. Just make sure you keep your dog's vaccinations current.
