Can I bottle feed my small puppy without stopping mom's nursing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My dog had 8 puppies and they will be 2 weeks in 2 days. The smallest one ( he is the smallest black one in picture that was taken 1 week ago) hasn't gained much weight. he eats from her but I dont thank he eats enough bc he gets pushed around. Could I bottle feed him and will he eat from his mom also if I help in betweens their meals.

It’s possible that he’s simply small and getting pushed out of the way so supplementing with formula may help. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian first however to make sure he doesn’t have signs of a medical problem that could be preventing him from gaining weight.
