Why is my dog vomiting, restless, and not pooping after eating grass?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Airedale Terrier | Female | spayed | 3 years and 3 months old | 62 lbs

My Airedale seems to have a stomach issue. She has normal appetite and energy. She has been eating a lot of grass and pine needles and vomiting over the last couple days. I haven’t seen her poop in the last couple days. I haven’t always been with her, though. She has been to the dog park that is mostly forest and may have there. But, she seems kind of restless, and whines from time to time.

Hello, I am sorry to hear about Harper. Vomiting is a fairly nonspecific sign in dogs and can be secondary to problems within the GI tract such as inflammation, eating something inappropriate, allergies, etc. other things such as pancreatitis, liver disease, and kidney disease can also lead to nausea and vomiting. Harpers restlessness could be because she is uncomfortable in her stomach. Since Harper is otherwise acting normally you could continue to monitor her to see if the vomiting resolves. You may offer her a bland easily digestible diet such as boiled chicken/hamburger and white rice (served in 1:2 ratio). If the vomiting continues or Harper develops other symptoms I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian so that further diagnostics such as abdominal X-rays and baseline blood work can be performed. Hope this helps, good luck!
