My senior dog has a neck lump after a scab fell off. What is it?

What the heck is this? My pup had a big brown scab over this thing that just fell off. Took him in two weeks ago for it, was running a fever, increased WBCs. Finished 10 day course abx. 10 year old male yellow lab, located on the back of his neck. Any ideas? Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 10 years and 9 months old | 175 lbs

This could be a persistent skin infection although i would also suspect a foreign body (e.g grass seed) or a tumor. next step would probably be a surgical intervention to make sure there is no foreign body under there that is causing this.
