My dog has diarrhea, is vomiting, and not eating. Vet or wait?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltipoo | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 6 lbs

My 16 month old Maltipoo, Liberty, had diarrhea and vomited yellowish liquid yesterday. She was not eating food or drinking her water. She was still playful as usual. I am not sure if I should take her to her Vet or just watch her for a few days to see if something could be seriously wrong. Please help a worried Dog Mom out.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Liberty. If she continues to have vomiting and diarrhea today or even if her appetite is still decreased, then she will need to see her veterinarian. If she is not eating and drinking properly, it will be easy for her to become dehydrated. Being such a small dog, this can happen quickly. In the meantime, encourage her to drink and then to try small amounts of dog food. I hope this information helps!
