I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice vomiting, lethargy or inappetence as, if that is the case, antibiotics may be needed. Hope this answer was helpful, but please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Dwight! Getting in to the puppies food can cause diarrhea! Other causes are: intestinal parasites, dietary indiscretion, viral or bacterial infections, food intolerance or allergy. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, do not withhold water. This allows his stomach to calm down. Then start feeding a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day. Feed the bland diet until 2 normal stools. If the diarrhea worsens or doesn't improve I recommend having him seen by a Vet for medications. I hope this helps and good luck!

Congratulations on adding Jessie to your family! The diarrhea could be due to many conditions including eating something she shouldn't have, bacterial over growth, parasites (worms and giardia) or even something more severe. It sounds like she may have been showing signs of illness a few days ago. I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian today. Try to remember to take in a stool sample. The doctor will check her for parasites and bacterial over growth and then give appropriate treatment. Other diagnostics may be recommended as well. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. I hope Jessie starts feeling better quickly! Please feel free to post any additional questions!
