Why is my dog vomiting white foam, has bloody stool, and won't eat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 5 years and 9 months old | 17 lbs

My dog is 5 years old, he turns 6 in January. And since this afternoon he has been vomiting white foam looking vomit, and he has blood in his stool. Which is runny. He will not eat, but will drink. And he is still alert and goes to the bathroom outside...as he continues to tell us when he has to go. Also, he has an obsession with mice.. and we're not sure if he has gotten ahold of one, and ate one of them or not. I do believe it could be stressing him out. Have any ideas on what's wrong?

As vomiting, diarrhea, and bloody stool are all very general signs of several illnesses, it would be best to bring Buddy to your vet ASAP to have him evaluated. It's possible he ate a mouse and is having GI upset, ate a mouse that had ingested a rodentcide, has parasites, an infection, obstruction, or any other number of potential issues. A full workup, including possible bloodwork or X-ray is best to determine why Buddy isn't feeling well.
