Why are both my dogs suddenly vomiting and having bloody diarrhea?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Male | 2 years and 10 months old | 15 lbs

I have two dogs, one a blue tick hound the other a jack rusell/rat terrier mix. My hound dog earlier this week threw up her food a couple times and two days ago had bloody diarrhea (very deep red/purple and gooey). Last night my terrier threw up about 4 times and this morning had the same bloody diarrhea. What could this be?

It sounds as your pet is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. i would recommend taking Them to the vet the first chance you get, they will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection they will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
