My dog is bleeding and not eating during her heat. Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Female | unspayed | 9 months old | 9.1 lbs

My bichoodle is bleeding (virginal area), it’s her third time on heat but she hasn’t been unhappy and not eating like this before! Is this normal? She’s 19months old.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your dog. A dog's heat cycle can definitely affect attitude and appetite. This should be temporary. If she begins to show other signs of illness such as vomiting, diarrhea, coughing or sneezing, then she will need to see her veterinarian as there will be another cause of her inappetance. Otherwise encourage her to eat and drink as best you can. I hope this information helps!
