My dog is coughing, itching, and has blood in her pee. What to do?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 9 years old | 36 lbs

Mia has been hacking/coughing(sounds like honking) for two & a half days since we started fostering her. she also has been itching/biting her back, abdomen, thighs constantly. two days ago she had brown pee now she has red blood in her pee at least twice since this morning. she’s drinking and eating. i need rescues permission to take her to the vet and they always think i am overreacting. what should i do?!

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. With blood in the urine, I would certainly recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. If she has a urinary tract infection, she should have this treated early on so that the infection does not spread to her kidneys. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.
