My bird's wing is bleeding after dog chase. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | unneutered | 1lb

My bird flew out of his cage and my dogs chased it but I am not sure if he bit my bird, after that on both sides of my bird there was blood coming out from under his wing. It appears to have stopped. What should I do?

He may have been bitten, or he may have damaged or broken a blood feather. Without a physical exam, it is difficult to say definitively. To be safe, he should be examined by your veterinarian or an experienced avian veterinarian. Bite wounds should be treated and broken blood feathers should be plucked to stop bleeding.
